Farm Assistant
Job Summary/Description
The Farm Assistant will assist the Farm Manager with the coordination and implementation of work and be responsible for the oversight of the Market Gardens business. This includes supervising students, assisting in crop planning, marketing, and improving products and services in order to maintain a profitable training-based industry.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with irrigation and field work as directed by the Farm Manager
- Assist in the harvest of produce
- Assist in the packaging and marketing of product
- Ensure quality control and effective storage handling
- Follow through on assignments as given by the Farm Manager
- Supervise, guide, and train rotating shifts of student workers toward safe work practices and good work habits, progressing to higher levels of work performance and job satisfaction
- Work with the Farm Team to determine the needs for maximum production
- Schedule regular maintenance and safety inspection routines of farm machinery and equipment as directed by the Farm Manager and assist in keeping the machinery in good working order.
- Maintain materials and supplies allocated to the industry and alert the manager of machinery that is unsafe, not working properly, etc.
Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be willing and able to work with the team’s needs and support a cohesive team environment
- Must be flexible to work irregular hours at times, with work schedules/patterns being seasonally influenced
- Must be able to engage both in outdoor physical labor as well as long periods of indoor standing
- The ability to operate various equipment and machinery would be a valuable asset

General Manager of Industry
Job Summary
The role of the GM of Industry is to develop profitable industry opportunities for the school that align with the mission and objectives of the vocational training program, as well as oversee the industry managers.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the President and administrative team to explore work-training and apprenticeship opportunities for the students and ensure the consistent integration of vocational, industrial, and agricultural training into the educational experience at Fountainview Academy
- Work with managers to develop clear training objectives and goals for the student trainees in each department in order to provide well-trained workers
- Engage with managers and their student trainees in the vocational training program to demonstrate a healthy work ethic.
- Manage the overall work schedule for the vocational training program
- Oversee the Maintenance, Farm, Auto Shop, and Campus managers and aid them in the development of efficient workflow and problem-solving
- Develop the skills, knowledge, and abilities of our industry managers
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a variety of work environments
- Must be willing and able to work with and support a cohesive team environment
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in regard to developing and training managers
- Well organized
- Proficiency in MS Office software would be a valuable asset

Certified High School English Teacher
Job Summary
Full-time teachers at Fountainview typically teach six classes per year. This specific course load will include English classes from grades 10-12, and an additional class or two which will depend on the teacher’s areas of expertise.
Entry Qualifications
• High school teaching experience preferred.
