The sign-up sheets were up. Students hurriedly gathered around the notice board with pencils, pens, markers and anything else that they could write with. The sign-up sheet for Practical Night already had dozens of signatures scribbled onto it. “So many options,” I thought while looking at the list. After considering the different choices for a while, I put down my three top options.

It was a few days later when I noticed students crowding around the school’s notice board. Curiosity got the better of me as I drew closer to see what all the commotion was about. The “Practical Night” lists were up. In excitement I inched in closer and ran my finger down the list of assigned events. Vegan cookies and ice cream, sweet!

Practical Night is an event that lets students test their skills through hands-on training. In the process, students also pick up new skills. Students pick events that interest them the most. Practical Night offers a range of fun activities. The activities range from woodcarving and sewing to eggroll making and even etiquette, among other choices. Once students have been assigned to different groups, they spend the evening at staff homes, the cafeteria, or the shop, etc. Practical Night is a unique event where students can learn and develop practical lifelong skills while having fun.
