What was the last thing you did for the first time? If you ask anyone here at Fountainview, you’ll find that it hasn’t been too long since they did something new, and it’s only the first day of school! The year started with joyful noises as new and returning students arrived from all over the world to our campus hiding behind British Columbia’s mountains. After getting everyone through the paperwork of registration day, students finished unpacking their rooms and started packing for the weekend. Soon enough, we were floating down Seton Lake on some of our famous barges to our campsites on Long Beach. Three hours later, the sleeping lake was awakened by seven boats pulling wake boarders, water skiers, and screaming tubers. There were also swimmers diving off the Cleveland’s houseboat and jumping off into the lake from the tree swing. When meal times came, the line of people waited eagerly for the food prepared by our beloved kitchen staff. Our worship talks encouraged all of us to make this year the year to serve others, and to grow closer to God. We came back to campus fifty shades darker and one hundred times closer to each other. This weekend I shared with others many of these “first time experiences”s: first time leaving home; first time camping; first time wake boarding; first time seeing Jesus in so many people. I can’t help but be excited about what else God has in store for us this new school year. I challenge you now to take every opportunity to grow. Don’t be afraid to try new things. And while you’re at it, I highly recommend spreading coconut oil and yeast flakes with a pinch of cayenne pepper and salt on your toast—Yum!
