Christmas time in Southern California—I still don’t know what to think. Spending a day at the beach heightened my bewilderment and confusion of the fact that it is essentially wintertime and here I am basking in the warm sunlight and dashing around on the white sand of Oceanside, CA. Needless to say, I would not go as far as to say that I don’t like wearing shorts and a t-shirt in December—I rather like it, actually. It just goes against my stereotypical idea of Christmas. The fact is, however, that the chance to rest and relax at the beach today was a welcome refreshment from the daily grind of tour. Perhaps even more exciting was the opportunity we had to do laundry today. I was just beginning to gauge the number of days we’ve been on tour by the color of my collar on my concert uniform shirt when it was reset back to white with a good scrub, laundry soap, and a touch of bleach. The laundry stop did us a world of good and we are now clean and refreshed for the remaining seven days of tour. We have reached the southernmost point we will reach on tour. Tomorrow we drive north to Templeton.
