Cafeteria Manager

Job Summary

Fountainview Academy is currently accepting applicants for the position of Cafeteria Manager. We are looking for a committed Seventh-day Adventist person who has a strong desire to support and take part in our vision to train, mentor, and nurture young people in their walk with God.

As the Cafeteria Manager, you will be reporting into the Industry Manager, and directing our cooking staff in the preparation of healthy vegan meals.

We are looking for a professional with inherent leadership qualities and the attention to detail necessary to ensure healthy, high quality food service.

Entry Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of the health principles outlined in Diets and Foods
  • Experience in cooking vegan meals
  • Food Safe Certification Level 1 (minimum)
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Accurate and detail-oriented
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing a cafeteria or working in a food service environment
  • This position is open to Canadian applicants, or applicants with PR status in Canada.

Duties and Skills

  • Prepare and manage the food service budget
  • Develop and maintain our menus and plan meals for the cafeteria
  • Organize and plan the food service component of our special events
  • Develop and or improve systems for inventory controls
  • Manage the schedule for our cafeteria cooks
  • Work with our cooks to ensure consistent training of the cafeteria student workers
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in our food service delivery

Media Producer

Job Summary

Fountainview Academy is currently accepting applicants for the position of Media Producer.

We are looking for a committed Seventh-day Adventist person who has a strong desire to support and take part in our vision to train, mentor, and nurture young people in their walk with God.

As the Media Producer, you will be reporting into the General Manager of Music/Media, and taking initiatives in creating contents that are aligned with Fountainview’s vision of media ministry.

We are looking for a professional with inherent leadership qualities and the attention to detail necessary to produce high-quality media contents.

Entry Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of the photo and video production
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Accurate and detail-oriented
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premier Pro
  • Experience in sound engineering is an asset
  • At least 3 years’ experience in video and/or photography production
  • Post-Secondary degree related to media preferred

Duties and Skills

  • Generate ideas that enhance Fountainview’s media ministry and discuss them with the team
  • Take responsibility for the technical aspects of video production
  • Ensure all assets are in the best possible condition prior to production shoots
  • Research and develop production techniques that fit best with Fountainview’s production
  • Give suggestions and discuss with film crew during production
  • Take initiative to ensure that video productions run smoothly
  • Be prepared to operate the following functions, depending on the production;
    • Steadicam Operator
    • Camera Operator
    • Focus Puller
  • Research media hardware and software through the use of online and media conferences
  • Compile and edit footage in post-production
  • Organize and backup all data
  • Source necessary assets for media department as needed
  • Other duties assigned from time to time by the General Manager of Music/Media

Secondary English Teacher

Job Summary

Fountainview Academy is currently accepting applicants for the position of Secondary English Teacher. We are looking for a committed Seventh-day Adventist person who has a strong desire to support and take part in our vision to train, mentor, and nurture young people in their walk with God.

Full-time teachers at Fountainview typically teach six classes per year. This specific course load will include English classes from grades 10-12, and an additional class or two which will depend on the teacher’s areas of expertise.

Entry Qualifications:

  • Must qualify for a teaching certificate in British Columbia.  Qualifications would typically include:
    • Bachelors degree in education, including a practicum (student teaching), from an accepted university, or
    • A graduate degree in English or a directly related area.

  • High school English teaching experience preferred.

Full-time teachers at Fountainview typically teach six classes per year.  This specific course load will include Social Studies classes from grades 10-12, and additional classes in Bible, PE, or other subjects which will depend on the teacher’s areas of expertise.

    • A graduate degree in History, Social Studies or a directly related area.

Maintenance Assistant

Fountainview Academy is currently accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Assistant. The position would begin summer 2018.

The assistant works with the maintenance manager to keep the campus and buildings in good upkeep. Tasks may include carpentry, renovations, general repairs, some mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work, and a variety of other tasks, including supervising students.

The maintenance assistant candidate should have some maintenance experience and be a committed Seventh-day Adventist person who has a strong desire to support and take part in our vision to mentor and nurture young people in their walk with God.

Taskforce Girls' & Guys' Deans

Serve as a taskforce girls’ or boys’ dean for Fountainview Academy in beautiful British Columbia, Canada! Taskforce positions would begin summer 2018. Fountainview Academy is looking for committed Seventh-day Adventist men and women, who have a strong desire to mentor and nurture young people in their walk with God.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the team of deans to provide mentoring and spiritual encouragement to our students
  • Organizing and supervising spiritual and recreational activities
  • Preparing and presenting worship thoughts for the young people
  • Holding the students accountable in their daily lives

Benefits include:

  • Free accommodations (single-occupancy room in the dormitory)
  • Free cafeteria meals
  • $500 CAD per month stipend (increases for deans staying on for a second or third year)
  • 1 to 2 round trip flights from home base to Fountainview Academy per school year
